It’s the end of June, which means 2018 is half way over, and mid-year mania is upon us! Funny how time flies when you’re having fun, right? Today, I am sharing the movie and music that brought me black girl joy in the Summer of 2018.
The Most Underrated Movie of June 2018
Even though I carry the cutest R2D2 purse with a C3PO wallet, I am by no means a die hard Star Wars fan. Yes, I have seen all the movies, but I know none of the lore, and I feel no need to learn. However, I was excited to see Solo: A Star Wars Story because of how pimpaliciously bawse Donald Glover looked in that fur coat in all the previews.
The movie is considered a flop because it made 1.5 bazillion dollars when it was expected to make 2 bazillion dollars, but I don’t get it because I thought the movie was GREAT! I laughed. I almost cried. The surprise cameo did not come as a surprise to me, and I’m not talking about Lando rocking that Gordon Gartrell. If you were on the fence about seeing Solo, I’m telling you to hop off that fence and get to a theater STAT!
My Favorite June 2018 Album Release
Ahh…Everything is Love is EVERYTHING for me right now! I am stanning even harder for Beyoncé, which I didn’t even think was possible! I am even giving Jay-Z a little less side eye these days! Man, I can’t wait to see The Carters doing their thing at OTR II. I’ve only listened to the album a few times, so I have no hot takes. The songs currently giving me life are SUMMER, HEARD ABOUT US, NICE, BLACK EFFECT, and of course APESH!T, the banger of Summer 2018. The flexin’, stuntin’ on these heauxs, baddest b!tch in the game Yoncé is my favorite Beyoncé. Plus, that video tho:
